Peanut Butter and chocolate bars

We made these for Mr. PB&C's birthday. From Fake Ginger but originally from Tate's Bake Shop Cookbook. Like a gigantic Reece's PB cup.

3/4 c. firmly packed dark or light brown sugar
3 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
2 c. creamy peanut butter
2 c. semisweet chocolate chips
1 tbs salted butter

In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, powdered sugar, butter, and peanut butter, and beat them with an electric mixer until they are smooth and well blended.
Pat into an ungreased 13 X 9 inch pan.
Press the mixture flat with your fingertips using a bit of plastic wrap if desired.
Melt the chocolate chips and butter on top of a double boiler or in the microwave.
Spread the chocolate mixture over the peanut butter mixture and cut into squares while the chocolate is still warm and soft.
