Chicken sausage with orzo and spinach
From Its.HolisticHannah
This was really good, prob one of my faves of all time. It was easy to put together and it cooked quickly.
2 tbs butter
1 lbs chicken sausage sliced
3 cloves of finely minced garlic
1 c orzo
2 c chicken broth
1/4 c heavy cream*
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp dried or fresh thyme
2 c torn baby spinach
1/2 c parmesan cheese
In a large pan over medium heat, melt the butter and add the sausages, cooking until lightly browned
Add the garlic and cook until fragrant
Add the orzo and toss to coat
Add the broth, cream, and spices
Bring to a simmer and then cover and cook over low for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally
Add in the baby spinach and toss to wilt the spinach
Off heat season for taste, top with cheese and stir
*We didn't have heavy cream and we subbed 1/2 and 1/2
Make sure you've got 2 1/2 cups of liquid
It might be nice to gelaze with some white wine too, so reduce the broth mixture
