Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes

From At Home with Gina

We made this with ground turkey and it was great. It made 4 sandwiches and had a bunch leftover for later.

1 pound ground chuck
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tablespoon, minced dried onion
1 green pepper, julienned
1 onion, julienned
2 garlic cloves, minced
Salt
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
rolls

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and set aside.
Brown the meat in a large skillet, breaking up into small pieces with the back of a spoon.
Add the minced dried onion and garlic.
Stir and continue to cook.
Season with salt.
Once browned, drain and transfer to a large bowl.
Heat another swirl of oil in the same pan over medium heat and add peppers and onions.
Sweat for about four minutes and add the remaining garlic.
Season with salt and continue to cook until soft.
Transfer to the same bowl as the meat.
Stir to combine, add cheese and stir again.
Top each roll with meat mixture and toast in the oven for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melty and roll is toasty.

Toddler review-
I made sure to cook the onion low and slow to make sure they were sweet for the toddlers that I know that don't normally like them. No one said a thing! When everyone sat down for dinner I heard "Oh this is soooo goood." Good start and good finish with three pretty empty plates.
