German sausage bread
Something that my parents made growing up whenever they had friends over for appetizers.
Recipe from a tech sergeant that worked with my dad. He and his friend Jimmy both retired at the same time, probably sharing this recipe after celebrating their separation from the Air Force.
1 loaf frozen bread dough (1 lbs)*
1 lbs package of hot sausage
1 1/2 cups parmesan cheese, shredded
2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
"2 eggs (preferable chicken eggs but turtle eggs work)"
Thaw the dough and flatten it into an oval shape making sure you don't get any thin spots
Fry up the sausage and drain but save the oil for later
Mix the cheeses and eggs into the sausage mixture
Spread the mixture as evenly as possible across the surface of the dough
Roll it up lengthwise and tuck in the ends to hold in the mixture
"Place your creation on a cookie sheet" and brush it with the leftover oil
Bake at 350 for 35-45 minutes or until light brown in color
Let it cool slightly and then slice into rounds
*Might try this with a white sandwich bread recipe for a home made version
