Steak sauce
We tend to be steak purests at our house. Salt, pepper and maybe garlic powder and that's it. Not even steak sauce. I had this at my mom's house though and it was great. Since I'd be the only one using it, I'll have to make a batch and then freeze the rest.
Rick Bayless' Steak Sauce
14 can fire roasted tomatoes
3 garlic cloves, peeled and halved
3 canned chipotle in adobo or 8-10 dried chile de arbol
1/2 tsp dry oregano
2 tbs cider vinegar
In a food processor, blend the tomatoes, garlic, chiles, oregano and vinegar until smooth
Pour into a sauce pan and simmer over medium heat, about 15 minutes adding water if necessary to get to the right consistency
Taste and season generously with salt, about 1 1/2 tsp
Cool and refrigerate
