Blue cheese dressing

Another attempt at ditching the bottled salad dressings. 

My mom made this for our wedge salads at the Panini party. 

Toddler review-No thank you.  They like the more mild bottled version so this was a little too strong for the birthday girls.  Meat-a-saurus Rex ate it but didn't love it.

2 1/2 ounces blue cheese

3 tablespoons buttermilk     **                       
3 tablespoons sour cream                                                                     
2 tablespoons mayonnaise                                                                     

2 teaspoons white wine vinegar                                                                     

1/4 teaspoon sugar                                                                     

1/8 teaspoon garlic powder                                                                     

salt and freshly ground black pepper

 

In a small bowl, mash blue cheese and buttermilk together with a fork until mixture resembles large-curd cottage cheese.

Stir in sour cream, mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, and garlic powder until well blended.

Season to taste with salt and pepper.

 

**Did you know how to make your own buttermilk? 

Add 1 tbs lemon juice or white vinegar and then add enough milk to make 1 cup.  Let sit for 5 minutes.  I've read that you can freeze into cubes for later use though I've never tried it.
