Crispy tofu
Everyone should be buying firm tofu and putting it in the freezer. When you defrost it, more water comes out making for firmer tofu! Now you know.
We made this for our Asian inspired NYE dinner. It was the first round of many things and it was excellent. We just ate it with chopsticks because our other dishes already had rice with it.
1 lbs firm tofu, pressed between some paper towel for an hour
2 tbs cornstarch
salt and pepper
Sauce-
4 tbs soy sauce
2 tbs balsamic vinegar
1 tbs agave or honey
as much hot sauce as you would like
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp ginger powder or fresh minced if you have it
2 tsp corn starch
1/8 cup or 30 ml water
Tear the tofu into small pieces and toss with the cornstarch and salt and pepper
Shallow fry pieces until crispy or bake at 360 for 20 minutes
Mix up the sauce ingredients and then add to a hot pan and mix until slightly thickened
Add your tofu and stir to coat
Serve with sliced green onion and sesame seeds
