The easiest cabbage side dish
I used this one a few weeks ago as a quick side to eggrolls. Then I promptly lost it and then spent 10 minutes looking for it last night. Writing it down this time.
16 ounces shredded cabbage (mix of red and green if you've got it)
2 tbs sugar (or to taste)
2 tsp kosher salt
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
a little bit of celery seeds
3 sliced green onions
Mix the sugar, salt, vinegar, and celery seeds together
Add in cabbage and green onions and toss to combine
Let sit 5 minutes
Here's a Japanese version, yamitsuki adapted from from The Spruce eats
Chopped cabbage
Grated garlic
Sesame oil
MSG
Sesame seeds
vegetable or chicken bullion paste (1 tsp)
Washed and dry your cabbage and then add the other ingredients
Masage the cabbage like you would a kale salad
Top with spicy chopped chiles or furikake
